RE: Some pics

Well . . . this proves that you don't have to have a lot of money to live clean and neat! What a super nice setup. Bachelor? With pictures like this, you may not be for long. Just the kind of neatness and taste that a woman likes. Wow. Good job. No, you've done a GREAT job! Kudos to you.
I finally quoted the right person. Thank you so much for your kind words. See, the whole thing here is it seems most assume I have no money. Though I have been going through a tough stretch over the last few months, Who hasnt been? I moved into this TT 100% by choice before the market crashed. I love living in it and if the market was strong I would be still living in it.
At this moment in time, it is all I need and then some!!!!!
So do not feel for me. All is beyond well here!!!!
Oops, sorry about my inference, which I didn't mean. What I should've said and was thinking (but didn't express quite right) was that you don't have to spend a lot of money to have a nice place. We are the same, do a lot of the work ourselves when our friends hire out. Better to have the extra money to spend or invest somewhere else.

RE: Retirement trip is over

I'm sorry to hear about your accident but glad to hear that you are both fine and still enjoying life by enjoying good food. Like everyone said here, once you have your truck fixed, go out and get yourself another fiver, at a super good deal, and pick up where you left off. You were being safe, through no fault of yours this happened. With your good health you can take many more trips.

RE: Campground in Boise?

I live near Boise. Do you want an RV park or a campground? There is an RV Park off of Glenwood in Garden City (basically a suburb of Boise) that is on the Boise River. Wal Mart and various restaurants are within short, very short driving distance. Here is the link On the River RV Park. There's the Boise Meridian RV Resort, but that's quite a ways out, closer to Caldwell - here's the link to that one Boise Meridian RV Resort
One poster here said McCall - depending on what time of year you come Ponderosa State Park has a fairly new RV section and it's very nice up there. But it's a good 2 1/2 hours drive North of Boise.
Cascade is South of McCall - still about 1 1/2 hours drive North and has a nice RV park - at least a couple - Arrowhead and Water's Edge. Here's a link to the Idaho page for RV Park Hunter that may give you a start RV Park Hunter
Another alternative for dry camping areas, not as far as McCall or Cascade would be Idaho City - depending on the size of your RV you could go to Grayback Gulch or North of Idaho City there is Bad Bear and various other dry campgrounds but these would not have playgrounds other than the great outdoors.
Let me know if you have any other questions and I'll help you out the best I can. DH and I camp a lot around here from hookups to dry. Have never stayed at the RV parks in town but have driven through to check them out.

RE: RVer's finding new home.

I've got to say one more thing - I wouldn't know about the higher end RV parks because we've never stayed in them. As we drove through Moab - and if you have, you know that most of the main RV parks are right off the main highway - most were full - from those ranging from mid to higher end. To me higher end is $38 and that's with my Good Sam discount. Traveling to Zion from I-15 through Springdale, the Zion River Resort, which to me is on the pricey side, was pretty full. So, I'm not sure if your observation is accurate. In spite of this, DH and I have often said that if we had to sell everything, we could live in our RV. Good times or bad, we'd still boondock to make our money go further.

RE: RVer's finding new home.

Could be a mix of RV types. We traveled for 2 1/2 weeks mid September and although DH and I both commented that we didn't see as many RV'ers on the road, but everynight the RV parks we stayed at filled up. We boondock in between, where we can, but we do it to save money and because we like to use the self contained aspect of our RV and getting off the "beaten path" - isn't that what RV'ing is all about - what that marketing campaign narrated by Tom Selleck says?

RE: First "dry" test

Also looking forward to your report. We like to dry camp but it's easier in the summer at higher altitudes where the days are bearable and so are the nights. We too will be dry camping for 4 nights next week and it's getting to be in the mid 60's in the day and upper 30's at night where we will be going. Heat will be furnished primarily with a Heater Buddy with a little furnace run followed by generator running to recharge all. Fires at night and in the morning to keep us warm outside in the morning and late afternoon when it's cooler. Can't wait as I'm sure you can't either.

RE: Propane Changeover

I had this same problem when doing a dry run on the fridge yesterday in preparation for a dry camping trip. The controller displayed red, so I ran in and turned off the fridge till DH got home. He told me when this happens to point the tank use indicator arrow straight up then back to the tank you want to use (and the one that was registering red). Sure enough that worked. DH is so smart!

RE: can you deduct intrest paid on your TT on your taxes

Yes, we do it every year. As long as your unit is self contained - which all TT's are, then it counts. Same as a popup - self contained.
My understanding is that to qualify for the loan interest deduction, a pop up must be the variety that has an interior cassette toilet. The vast majority of other pop ups do NOT qualify-to my understanding.
Yes, that is what I was referring to - one with a cassette toilet - self contained.

RE: How do you "winterize" your LCD?

We had a TV repairman come to the house and he said that we should bring our LCD in over the winter. Freezing temps can affect it. So when we winterize and put the cover on the TT, the LCD comes in too.

RE: Moab, campgrounds

The original OP is already camping but I thought I would comment anyway. We've stayed at Arch View and Moab Valley. What I liked best about Moab Valley was that the sites were graveled - none of the fine red dust to have to contend with, plus more shade and they have a dog run that you unleash your dog in. To the poster here who said DO NOT go to Spanish Trail - why? We drove by and it looks very nice, clean, wide spots and nice gravel and big shade trees. Only drawback (and this was mentioned in another post) is that it is on the South side of town in the "industrial" area but the bluff views are nice.

RE: Rocky Mountain NP to Moab Utah along the CO River?

When we traveled from Moab to RMNP, we took 128 from Moab along the Colorado River, then hooked up to I-70, into Grand Junction. At that time, we first went to Ouray - covering the Four Corners area including Mesa Verda, then over Monarch Pass into the Colorado Springs area then up to RMNP. I'm on the road right now and don't have a Colorado map with me so hopefully someone else can give you more information. Just to let you know, Hwy 128 is a good road. We tow a 32' TT and had no problem.

RE: Hwy 287 Montana between Hebgen Lake and Ennis

Hi Campersuzid - due to our late start on our trip, we decided to head South. We left Moab this morning and are now in Monument Valley. We will be going to the North Rim of the CG next and boondock there.
